FINALLY, THE YEAR HAS BEGUN
(originally written March 2021)
Well, hello to all you lovely souls out there, I hope you are just as thrilled to be in March as I am! The sunshine we have had recently is a welcome beacon of spring and summer days to come in 2021. Bring it on I say! What a long winter and albeit a year soon with you know what preventing us from so much. I do find that sometimes nothing feeds my soul and mind more than a warm summers evening in the greenery, in the sunshine with it’s warmth beating down like a cosy blanket of love listening to the birds sing and the gentle breeze flowing through the leaves whispering calming words to my soul. Also, for me it marks the beginning of the new year and my birthday next week. My energy levels seem to sky rocket in March compare to January and February where I am very much still in that hibernation vibe.
Welcome! This is officially my first post on this blog, I “should” have done it last week (according to MY deadlines), but I do seem to enjoy perfectionism and procrastination from time to time. Wanting this website to be “just so” or “perfect” before I write (which if I allowed it to control me would be next year, probably!), so this week I had a firm word with myself (I have a lot of those, good pep talk ones and sometimes those pesky self deprecating ones) and reminded myself of those words by Elizabeth Gilbert “done is better than good” and Sheryl Sandberg: “Done is better than perfect.” Man, I have prevented and denied myself of so much over the years from allowing that perfectionism and guilt to take over. So I have done it! I have written the first post, albeit short, not very informative or inspiring but it’s done!
I hope to write on some of the weekdays anything that I feel is worth sharing that I have learnt externally and whatever comes to me during my days. For example it could be podcasts I am dying to share, something I have read, seen, heard from another person, experienced and contemplated on etc. Like the other day I had an some wording come to me of “Simpleness leads to Happiness”. For me this past year has really reminded me and many of you that a simpler life is a happier and less exhausting one!
Right, bit random and brief, that’s me really, never know what you’re going to get. I feel that’s enough for today as I really truly can talk or write for some time and don’t want to put you off on the first post! At least make it to the second or third.
Happy Tuesday 9th March and I hope you have done one thing today to nourish yourself, whether it be a cup of tea and just being present with yourself for 5 mins, a run, a walk or just saying something kind to yourself.
Until next time! Be kind and love yourself please.
