March 31st

(originally written March 2021)

It’s March 31st! Where on earth did March go? I know I wished spring to be upon us ‘effective immediately’, but this is a tad quick! Although, I must say I have most enjoyed and appreciated being in March, it marks the beginning of the year for me personally. January and February still feel like sleepy months to me, just getting any last bits of recuperation and rest needed for the year, planning trips, to do’s and anything else one might like to achieve.

So this is just my third blog, EVER, which I am already chastising myself about as I had made myself the goal of one blog a week at least, preferably two. I did experience much fatigue around my birthday which is mid March for about 10 days or so, so didn’t feel I would do any justice on here. I have also been doing the whole ‘perfectionism’ thing of do I need to structure these blogs, do I need to do them on set days/times etc etc. Thanks to just getting over myself I am just going to launch into, potentially vomit on and just blimen go for it and see what comes of it over time. Worry about getting it right and perfect later one, best to get it done than never! It was also extremely helpful to hear a lovely lady I know from Germany who said to me on Zoom via Emily Love’s In The Spirit Of Business Gathering, which is a wonderful 2 hr session with dance, meditation and sharing space for our creative businesses, that I should just go with the flow and write when it feels right, rather than do the rigid set day and time which my masculine old process would think to do. So that was so helpful, like I sort was in want of that permission to just be me and go with the flow. This leads me onto sharing this idea of the new way of working, we are in the age of Aquarius which is more of a female energy and therefore way of being. My boyfriend and I were just discussing on the weekend that the whole 9-5, 5+ day week is really quite becoming antiquated and makes most of us bloody miserable really! I know I am not one for 5 day weeks, I function so much better on a 4 day week. There is much evidence out there where businesses have experimented with a 4 day week and their staff have been more productive in 4 days and therefore more interested and invested in the business themselves. I realise for some this is an ‘ideal’ situation scenario, but can you just imagine if it became the norm?! No reason why it can’t if we all ask for it, perhaps I should start a protest or a movement. I read read recently that most people want more time and happy with less money than more money and less time. No brainer really! It was on the Science of Well-Being Course that Yale - found via Dr Ranjan Chatterjee’s Podcast - (https://www.coursera.org/learn/the-science-of-well-being) are offering for free, I just finished it this week after starting it back in February during lockdown as I was off work (one of strings being a beauty therapist) and I have really enjoyed it and learnt a lot and it’s just reminded me to prioritise my meditation practice, writing, yoga, walking and general well being and to remove that rat race mentality I get caught up in sometimes. I much prefer the simple life and for me in an ideal world just being spending my time doing my creativity like painting, sewing and writing and hopefully earning regular money from these strings to my bow.
